NIGHT OF WRITING DANGEROUSLY: November 20, 2016 Julia Morgan Ballroom, San Francisco

For the third year in a row, I had the great honor of participating in the Night of Writing Dangerously, a fundraising event for NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo is an event and organization that I hold dear to my heart both for the work that they do and the inspiration they have provided me over the past decade. The structured challenge of writing 50k words in 30 days has helped me develop my fantasy trilogy THE LEGACY OF THE HEAVENS over a 6 year period. (Book One: THE SONG OF ALL due January 2018 from Night Shade Books.)

The festivities of the noir-ish Night of Writing Dangerously (NOWD) were a candy-fueled, blur of word-sprints, word-challenges, and folks ringing the bell of completion. But, for me, the best part was catching up with old friends and meeting new friends who are passionate about writing.

While the writers toiled away into the wee hours on their word counts, NOWD collectively raised $66,149 for the Young Writers Program. Huzzah! Here’s to the power of words!
